We want to make sure that we do this beautiful book justice as we introduce you to the authors and the stories they share within these pages. A question that Kim and I kept wrestling with was how do you talk about grief? Grief is hard, it’s uncomfortable and it comes in waves throughout one’s life. It isn’t something you can prepare for with a map, compass and end destination, because after all its ever-changing.
Grief encompasses so much more than the loss of a loved one. Grief can be the loss of an opportunity; a loss of a life you thought you were supposed to have and so much more. The women in this book have revealed their souls and are sharing a piece of them that was lost. The stories in this book range from a loved one dying to a life they didn’t plan while also giving you glimpses of how they navigated their painful losses while growing gracefully.
Grief is like the ocean, far as the eye can see and never ending, waves coming and going with each new day. As one experiences a loss, there isn’t a compass you can give them that will help them navigate their painful loss. Those feelings can’t be taken away.
We invite you to go on a voyage as you read the stories of loss and grief in the following pages. You will discover how each one of these women turned within, found their inner compass and grew gracefully from loss they thought they would never survive.
